A man in Limassol has been arrested on pimping charges following a raid at a suspected brothel in Germasoyia, while four women were also detained for questioning.

According to local media, police on Monday carried out a raid at a Germasoyia apartment complex, where officers said they found four foreign sex workers in separate apartments.

A man described as a 51-year-old Greek national was also arrested during the operation, while the four women, who were said to be of European origins, were detained for questioning as investigators were trying to ascertain whether they could be victims of sex trafficking.

Seven women in Nicosia previously described by police as possible victims of trafficking have been arrested, with a judge ordering them in remanded custody for multiple offences related to prostitution.

After initial interviews, designed for special anti-trafficking officers to assess whether the women were victims of sex trafficking, police said they arrested the females on suspicion of committing multiple offences such as pimping, running an illegal brothel, making a living from earnings of prostitutes, and illegal gains.

So they were not trafficked and now are charged with sex work-related offences, for example, pimping each other

Police busted a brothel in Nicosia’s old town on Monday and arrested a 62-year-old man for operating it, reports said.
