Six individuals have been sentenced to a combined total of nearly 25 years in prison for orchestrating a prostitution ring following the escape of a woman from a brothel where she was coerced into working.
The group, consisting of three men and three women, operated from properties in Smethwick and utilized escort websites to promote sexual services in exchange for money. Their illicit activities were brought to the authorities' attention after a woman managed to break free from their control in January 2021. She bravely reported her ordeal to law enforcement.
This victim had been lured from Romania under false pretenses at the age of 18, just three months before her escape. Upon her arrival, she was initially taken to a residence on Arden Road and subsequently relocated to another property on Parkes Street, which functioned as a brothel under their operation.
