A man and woman from Doncaster have been convicted for trafficking a vulnerable woman into the country and forcing her into prostitution. Gheorghe Bonculescu, 27, arranged for the woman's travel to the UK and sold her for sex online, earning him a four-and-a-half-year prison sentence for controlling prostitution. Meanwhile, 26-year-old Elena Birovescu deposited cash into her bank account over seven months, transferring it to Bonculescu for financial gain. Birovescu received a six-month suspended sentence for money laundering. Detective Sergeant Richard Kirk praised the victim's bravery and condemned the perpetrators as predators who exploited her vulnerability for profit.
