A man and a woman have been arrested in Nottingham following police raids on three suspected brothels, amid concerns about the potential exploitation of women forced into sex work.

Neighbourhood officers executed warrants on Monday (April 7th) at addresses on Derby Road and Mansfield Road in Sherwood, and later searched a property on Plantin Road in Carrington, where the two individuals were detained. A subsequent raid targeted a third suspected brothel on Queen’s Road in Beeston. The operation resulted in the seizure of cash, documents, high-value items, and an extendable baton. A 58-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of managing or assisting to manage a brothel and possession of criminal property, while a 59-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly possessing criminal property and causing or inciting prostitution for gain. Sergeant Karl Browne stressed the police's commitment to tackling the harm and exploitation associated with sex work, emphasizing their victim-first approach and close work with charities to ensure support for women involved in prostitution.
