A rapist man violently attacked and raped a sex worker in Folkstone. He arranged to meet the woman at a flat on Friday. When he arrived, he grabbed her by the throat and told her he had a knife. He then raped her. Then getting out his imitation gun, he raped her for the second time.

The terrified woman called the police, who sent around armed officers. They arrested the man as he attempted to drive away.

"Every woman and girl has a right to feel safe in the communities in which they live and that is why tackling violence against them is a priority for Kent Police."

The man was jailed for 20 years.

Twelve arrested after raids over exploitation of sex workers in Kent and London

Twelve people have been arrested after properties in Kent were raided as part of an investigation into the exploitation of sex workers.

Eight raids were carried out across areas including Canterbury, Medway and Maidstone, as part of the two-day operation this week.

Detectives have since charged London residents Yan Ping Zhu, 43; Chun Ping Shao, 50 and Feng Zhu Lin, 45, with controlling prostitution for gain and acquiring criminal property.

All three women are from London and have been remanded in custody to appear at court at a later date.
